Bradley Airport starts direct flights to Atlanta

Daily nonstop service from Bradley International Airport (BDL) to Atlanta (ATL) on Southwest Airlines, operated by its wholly-owned subsidiary AirTran Airways, began yesterday.

“Through the CAA, we are building on the strengths of Bradley International to make it more competitive and attractive to large airlines and capable of taking on more daily nonstop service to major destinations like Atlanta,” said Gov. Dannel P. Malloy. “The decision of our partners at Southwest Airlines to invest in Bradley with this additional service demonstrates that our efforts are paying off.” The Connecticut Aviation Authority says Southwest is Bradley’s most-popular airline “in terms of market share at 27%. With the addition of these three daily nonstop Atlanta flights, customers can choose from 20 different daily nonstops to 8 different Southwest destinations (i.e. Atlanta, Baltimore, Chicago, Denver, Fort Lauderdale, Las Vegas, Orlando, and Tampa) from BDL. ”
