Framington-based insurer supports Malloy’s go-it-alone plan for ACA

This from ConnectiCare a Farmington-based health plan, which is a subsidiary of EmblemHealth and offers Medicare-eligible products for business, municipalities, individuals and those who are Medicare-eligible:

“ConnectiCare, Inc. supports Governor Malloy’s decision to forego the option offered by President Obama last week for insurance companies to offer plans that are non-compliant with the federal Affordable Care Act.  The Governor’s decision will minimize disruption and confusion for Connecticut health insurance customers by staying the course in the individual market.  For the past three years, ConnectiCare has been working diligently to comply with the Affordable Care Act and to develop a wide choice of high quality products and services, both on and off the Connecticut Health Insurance Exchange, Access Health CT.  ConnectiCare did not discontinue any grandfathered plans, and we are supporting consumers with non-grandfathered plans in finding options that meet their needs, whether on or off the Exchange.

“ConnectiCare is proud to offer high quality, comprehensive individual health plan options for Connecticut residents, both on and off the Connecticut Health Insurance Exchange,” said Michael Wise, President of Farmington-based ConnectiCare. “This decision is the right one for the people of Connecticut and for ConnectiCare’s members.  We will continue to work closely with the Governor and his staff toward our collective goal of achieving good, affordable health insurance for every Connecticut resident.”
