DOT fixes Monroe traffic signal

The state DOT yesterday fixed a malfunction traffic signal at the intersection of Route 111 and Spring Hill Road in Monroe. Rep. DebraLee Hovey, R-Monroe, said the problem was pointed out by a constituent of hers.

“I want to thank the constituent who first brought this issue to my attention,” she said in a statement. “Route 111 is a very busy thoroughfare through town and I’m happy the Department of Transportation was able to rectify the situation and expedite the repair. Making sure our traffic patterns are working to their best capacity is important for everyone that uses Route 111, especially the people of Monroe who count on traffic systems working properly so they can get to work on time.”

She said that a few months ago the signal’s programming was changed so that it often stopped traffic at the intersection even there were no vehicles on Spring Hill Road.
