Bond Commission tomorrow will approve million$ for projects in Norwalk, Stratford, Bridgeport, Darien, New Milford, Stamford

danmay9Gov. Dannel P. Malloy controls the agenda of the State Bond Commission, so when an item makes the agenda, it’s near certain that it will pass. The monthly meeting tomorrow includes:

$1.2 million to help Sterling House Community Center in Stratford install an elevator and other improvements.

$200,000 for the Darien Housing Authority to finance alterations, renovations and two additional bedrooms at 216 and 218 West Street.

$6 million, including a $5 million, low-interest loan to Datto, Inc. of Norwalk to retain 150 jobs and create up to 200 new jobs within five years, but it could be forgiven if the employment goals are reached. One million dollars is a grant-in-aid for training.

 A $15 million loan, at 2 percent interest, to Pitney Bowes Inc. in Stamford under the governor’s First Five Program, to help the firm expand in Stamford, Danbury and Shelton. As part of the deal, 1,600 jobs would be retained and 200 new positions created by 2019. The company could get $10 million in loan forgiveness if it meets its job goal.

$300,000 for the City of Milford to assist with its planned Founder’s Walk along the harbor, including including history kiosks, tables, a veteran’s memorial wall and landscaping.

$1.1 million for the Discovery Museum in Bridgeport to assist with improvements.

$2.5 million for the Town of New Milford to finance demolition of the former Century Brass site.
