AARP news conference pushes for consumer protections on third-party electric suppliers

This from the AARP

“Given the large number of electric customer complaints related to the practices of third-party electric suppliers in Connecticut, an ongoing PURA investigation, and findings from a recent study by the Office of Consumer Counsel which found a majority of electric customers who have switched to a third-party supplier are generally paying more than the Standard Offer electric rate, AARP and consumer advocates, including Connecticut Citizens Action Group (CCAG) and others are calling on State legislators to enact strong consumer protections this session that would crack down on unscrupulous marketing practices of electric suppliers and help ensure customers are paying the lowest rates possible if they choose to go into the market.”
