After a day of committee confusion, “Revenge” bill is listed as passing

The Blogster was surprised the other day when after the Judiciary Committee’s overwhelming vote in favor of the so-called revenge-porn bill, it was not posted on the General Assembly website as having passed. Now it is.The final vote was 39-1, with Rep. Themis Klarides, R-Derby, voting against it. Below is the text of the bill, which heads to the Senate. FYI: A Class A misdemeanor is punishable by up to a year in prison.

“1. (NEW) (Effective October 1, 2014) (a) A person is guilty of unlawful dissemination of an intimate image when, with the intent to harass, annoy, alarm or terrorize another person, such person electronically disseminates, without the consent of such other person, a photograph, film, videotape or other recorded image of (1) the genitals, pubic area or buttocks of such other person, or the breast of such other person who is female with less than a fully opaque covering of any portion of such breast below the top of the nipple, or (2) such other person engaged in sexual intercourse, as defined in section 53a-193 of the general statutes.

(b) Unlawful dissemination of an intimate image is a class A misdemeanor.”
