Pressure tonight is on Indiana, Connecticut farmers in governors’ bets on NCAA women

Gov Malloy and Indiana Gov Mike Pence have an array of agricultural products from their respective states in tonight’s version of the “friendly” wager that resulted in Malloy winning a selection of Kentuck bourbon last night.

Gov. Malloy  has a basket of Connecticut Grown products riding on the outcome, while Pence is wagering a similar booty that Notre Dame wins.

“The undefeated UConn women’s basketball team has gained national attention and inspired thousands of young basketball players in our state,” Governor Malloy said.  “They’ve taken eight national championship titles in the past, and I am confident that a ninth trophy will be brought home to Storrs tonight.  With a victory by the men last night, we are just one step away from winning titles in both tournaments for the second time – something no other school has accomplished.”

“With their undefeated record and three appearances in the championship game in the last four years, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish have the skills and experience to secure a win tonight,” Pence said in a stateme4nt accompanying Malloy’s.  “While the UConn Huskies are a tough opponent, the Irish have the full support of Hoosiers across the state of Indiana, and we’re confident they’ll come out ahead.” The game is at 8:30 in the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee.
