Mark Twain House offers first-hand therapy for folks afraid of ghosts

It’s not far-fetched that the historic Mark Twain House, where the timeless author spent his happiest years, will host a couple of “Ghost Tours” night at the end of the month. The author of “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer” and “The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn” was an avid believer in the popular supernatural and ghost stories of the late-19th and early 20th centuries.

On Saturday the 28th, the Hartford landmark will be open for spooky evening visits. The events are called the Graveyard Shift Ghost Tours. The hour-long guided event will take visitors through the main house, the servants’ wing, and the usually off-limits basement with discussions on spiritualism in the late-Victorian period. Tours will begin at 6, 7, 8 and 9 p.m. Tickets will be $22 for adults, $17 for members and $15 for children between the recommended ages of 10 and 16. For more information, call 860-280-3130 of check the website, marktwainhouse.org to purchase tickets.
