Rogue Redding electric-supply negotiator gets lit up for 2.5 years in the slammer

The state Department of Criminal Justice has announced that Raymond Sanzone, 44, of Redding, has been sentenced to serve 2 ½ years in prison and ordered to pay more than $340,000 in restitution, for overcharging more than 100 victims, including cities, towns and private schools on the commissions he received for making deals with their electric suppliers as a registered aggregator.

Sanzone, the president of Turris Associates LLC, recently copped a guilty plea in Waterbury Superior Court for first-degree larceny after a probe by the Statewide Prosecution Bureau of the Office of the Chief State’s Attorney. The issue was referred for criminal investigation on a referral from the state Attorney General. Superior Court Judge Roland D. Fasano sentenced Sanzone to 8 years in prison, suspended to 2 ½ years, plus 5 years probation. The plea bargain includes $214,224 in restitution now and an additional $128,218 while on probation. According to court records Sanzone overcharged clients more than $500,000 in contracts he arranged with electric suppliers under the state’s deregulated utility system.
