Death penalty appeal of Russell Peeler Jr., on Death Row for ordering 1999 Bridgeport double murder, gets pushed back a couple weeks

Russell Peeler Jr., the Bridgeport drug lord who ordered the 1999 twin killing of Karen Clarke and her 9-year-old son B.J. Brown in their home and sits stewing on Death Row, doesn’t want to die. But his scheduled three-hour appeal before the state Supreme Court on Monday June 30, has been postponed until Thursday, July 10, Hearst Connecticut Media has learned. The 800 pages of briefs, including allegations of prosecutorial misconduct, caused an initial postponement last month and now the case has been bumped again. The boy was a witness in another murder case against Peeler, whose brother Adrian pulled the trigger. Russell Peeler got 105 years behind bars for that one.

So B.J., if he hadn’t been murdered, would be 25 this year.
