State managers due for 3-percent pay raises at cost of $10 million

For the second consecutive year, 2,000 managers among state emplyees will get 3 percent pay hikes, effective July 1, according to Ben Barnes, secretary of the Office of Policy and Management and Commissioner Don DeFronzo of the Department of Administrative Services.

The managers will also get wage hikes in January, under the state’s Performance Assessment and Recognition System of goals and objectives. “The increases affect approximately 2,000 employees, in several classes of state managers. There will be no increases for senior gubernatorial appointees, such as agency heads, their deputies, senior members of the Governor’s staff, and elected officials,” according to a statement from OPM. “Connecticut’s state managers did not get raises for five straight years, helping our state address its budget problems,” Barnes said. “During that time they, like other citizens, paid taxes, bought groceries and paid college tuition. It is only fair that they receive increases similar to those being received by the people who work under them. They are hard-working public servants who deserve recognition for their efforts.”

This is the second consecutive year in which the increases have been granted.
