Free well water test kits if you want to drive to Hartford

The state Department of Public Health will provide testing equipment for the first 300 people who visit its private-well-education booth, #211, at the Hartford Home Show. The show is at the XL Center, 1 Civic Center Plaza in Hartford, starting at 11 o’clock. Free test kits will let people collect samples for analysis for arsenic and uranium. The samples will be screened by the DPH Laboratory.

“Arsenic and uranium are found in groundwater around Connecticut due to their presence in bedrock,” said DPH Epidemiologist Brian Toal. “These metals have no taste or odor so the only way to know if either toxic metal is present is to have your well water tested.” More information is available at (860) 509-7740.
