On Monday, union members expect to continue their campaign against the management of Northeast Utilities, the parent company of the Connecticut Light & Power and Yankee Gas. They have already held a “no confidence” vote and just scheduled a news conference in the Capitol, where leaders of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Locals 420 & 457 will explain the reasons. Opposition to management includes criticism over alleged understaffing, outsourcing, the closure of work centers, “and bullying during contract negotiations.” (Photo by Getty Images)

IBEW Local 420 Business Manager Frank Cirillo and Local 457 Business Manager John Fernandes are scheduled to speak with reporters and then deliver a letter to the governor and Attorney General George Jepsen detailing the issues.

Local 420 represents approximately 750 workers in CT with members at Connecticut Light and Power, GDF Suez, NRG Generation, and Yankee Gas, according to a statement just issued. Local 457 represents approximately 1,200 workers in CT with members at Connecticut Light and Power, GDF Suez, Norwich Public Utilities, NRG Generation, Wallingford Public Utilities and Yankee Gas.
