Grogins wins House approval for Superior Court post. Pro-gun lawmakers muzzled.

In a 125-18 vote, the House of Representatives just confirmed former rep Auden Grogins, 52, of Bridgeport, for a Superior Court judge post. The legislation next moves to the Senate for expected confirmation later this afternoon. While no House members spoke against her nomination, opposition supported by the NRA and the Connecticut Citizens Defense League of gun enthusiasts, all Republicans, emerged in the vote total. Grogins was a sponsor of the 2013 legislative reaction to the Sandy Hook school shootings and the NRA had made an effort against her nomination.

Those western Connecticut House members who voted against her included Rep. Cecilia Buck-Taylor, of New Milford,  and freshmen representatives Ben McGorty of Shelton and Pam Staneski of Orange. Fifteen of the 18 votes against Grogins in the House won endorsements from the CCDL before the November elections, including Staneski and Buck-Taylor.
