ALS, colitis, may join list of eligible ailments for medical-marijuana

The scheduled March 11 meeting of the Board of Physicians of the state’s medical marijuana program will review three new diseases for possible inclusion among the 11 listed ailments.

Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), Fabry Disease and Ulcerative Colitis will be the focus of a public hearing and vote that day, according to the agenda posted tonight by the Dept. of Consumer Protection, which administers the program.

The doctors recently approved adding sickle cell disease, arthritic psoriasis and a type of failed back surgery to be included and the issues await action by the Regulation Review Committee when they are drafted into legalese.
