On Monday, voter registrars from throughout the state are expected to criticize Secretary of the State Denise Merrill’s proposal to turn their elected jobs into Civil Service positions.
The Legislature’s Government Administration & Elections Committee will be hearing testimony on several election bills starting at 1:00 p.m. in Room 2-A of the Legislative Office Building.
Merrill has invited Tammy Patrick of the Washington DC based Bipartisan Policy Center, who served on the 2013 national Commission on Election Administration; Allegra Chapman of National Common Cause in Washington; and Dr. Paul Herrnson, University of Connecticut Roper Center for Public Opinion Research
