Lawmaker, tribes will announce legislation to allow “defensive” casinos

 Majority Senate Democrats just emailed notice of a “major announcement” tomorrow morning on the future of organized gambling in the state. It looks as if there will be a bill to allow the Mohegans and Mashantucket Pequots to build between one and three new casinos to play “defense” against the planned casinos in Massachusetts.bobd Senate Majority Leader Bob Duff, D-Norwalk, left, Senate President Martin M. Looney, D-New Haven, Senator Cathy Osten, D-Sprague, Senator Tim Larson, D-East Hartford and, tribal leaders from the Mohegan and Mashantucket Pequot tribes will be joined by casino workers and organized labor during an 11:30 news conference in the Capitol.
