The Connecticut Conference of Municipalities just released a survey indicating that Gov. Malloy’s budget, which would force towns to pay for their resident state troopers, would cost 29 towns $3.1 million a year. They currently pay 70 percent of the cost of paying troopers. The governor’s budget would increase it to 100 percent.
Here is a list of some of the towns and what the extra amounts they would have to pay:
Barkhamsted- $55,000
Beacon Falls- $42,127
New Fairfield- $310,293
Oxford – $300,000
Woodbury- $99,407
