Lawmakers were being briefed today on the variety of proposed changes to the state’s tax structure that are being proposed to support the planned $605 million increase in spending. One of the items included in the discussion this afternoon/evening on the tax package in the Finance Committee will be a statewide mill rate of 29 for autos. That could save Bridgeport taxpayers $6 million a year. The loss of local funding would come to the city from the state, in a scenario explained to lawmakers.
