Malloy dismisses GOP’s “bogus” budget proposal

dan4-2Gov. Dannel P. Malloy, speaking with reporters after the monthly State Bond Commission meeting, dismissed GOP budget proposals and said that while he reads their statements and proposals and speaks with them, he doesn’t respect their work product. “Listen, I think they put out an unbelievably bogus. Unbelievably bogus, false budget. I’ve said that before. I think some of you cut them a little slack. I don’t.”

On April 24, Republican lawmakers on Friday proposed a two-year, $39.5-billion budget alternative that would include pay freezes, cuts in overtime and major revisions to the pension program for state employees. It would restore much of the social-service funding that Gov. Dannel P. Malloy recommended cutting in the shadow of a projected billion-dollar deficit.
