Close but no dice for medical-marijuana expansion

weedAmong the plethora of new pieces of legislation floating in the massive budget implementer being debated in the Senate before heading to the House, is one sentence on line 310 of Senate Amendment C, which was adopted a few minutes ago: “Strike sections 508 to 521, inclusive, and renumber remaining 311 sections and internal references accordingly.” That deletes the attempt by the Department of Consumer Protection to expand the medical marijuana program to children, promote research and allow hospitals and hospices to administer the drug. It kills, for the year, the attempt of parents to legalize cannabis oil to help the symptoms of childhood epilepsy called Dravet Syndrome.
