Malloy to Bridgeport pols: “Take a deep breath.”

dan4-2Gov. Dannel P. Malloy on Thursday afternoon was the keynote speaker at the Greater Bridgeport NAACP branch’s luncheon in the Holiday Inn. Noting that nearly the entire cast of characters running for mayor was in the house, the governor had some words of advice.
“Listen, in an effort that everyone can relax, I know that there are many people running for mayor in the city of Bridgeport, everyone take a deep breath,” he said to a few laughs among the 200 people. “We’ll get through all the tension that that causes in a room at any given moment. Primaries come and go and elections come and go and the people of Bridgeport will make the choice that they want to make.”
If there was a tactical mistake made, it was by Mayor Bill Finch, who first stumbled over his prepared remarks, then hopped off the stage after introducing Malloy, but failed to linger on the podium to shake his hand.
