While the school year ended two weeks ago, more honors continue to stream in for New Canaan High School spring athletes. Nine Rams recently received All-FCIAC accolades, after the all-conference lacrosse and baseball teams were released nearly one month ago. Justin Clark, Ali Reilly and Tyler Edwards all landed on the All-FCIAC first team for their respective sport.
For his season-long efforts that culminated in a New Canaan share of the Division II boys golf state championship, Clark was named as one of best five golfers in the conference. The sophomore shot a team-best 75 in the title match and guided the Rams to an undefeated 12-0 start. After the team’s first loss to eventual FCIAC champion Greenwich, Clark helped New Canaan top rival Darien in an away match 160-161.
Chris Tohir, Kyle Finnican and Eli Litchman all earned spots on the All-FCIAC East team.
In her final campaign at New Canaan High, Reilly captained a young softball team that eventually took its exit in the first round of the Class LL tournament at Stamford. Reilly struck out 114 hitters in just over 95 innings, while she sported a 3.23 ERA. The All-FCIAC first team recognition was her second in as many seasons. Meanwhile, juniors Colette Pellegrini and Jamie Schlim took home honorable mentions. When she wasn’t covering first base, Schlim also pitched for the Rams, as Pellegrini could regularly be found roaming centerfield.
On the court, Edwards proved to be a constant driving force behind an excellent campaign from New Canaan boys volleyball in 2014. Senior captain Isaac Fishman claimed a spot on the second team, finishing as the top assist-man for the Rams.
