New Canaan boys lacrosse players Michael Kraus, Justin Meichner and David Strupp were all named to the 2014 Under Armor New England team for the All-American underclassmen tournament this weekend. The trio will compete down at Towson University in Baltimore, M.D., beginning on Friday, July 11, until Sunday as part of a 10-team bracket.
Each team will play four games in pool play, and the top two seeds from each division will advance to the single-elimination semifinals. The team that wins its next two games will become the 2014 Under Armor Underclass champion.
Participants must have recently concluded either their freshman, sophomore or junior year in high school and be in good academic standing. Kraus, a rising senior, Meichner, a rising junior, and Strupp, a rising junior, will play in front of lacrosse fans and several college coaches. Kraus has committed to play at the University of Virginia, while Strupp has verbally agreed to attend Harvard after his high school graduation in 2016.
Last year, the New England boys squad advanced to the semifinals, where it fell to eventual runner-up Washington D.C. team.
