Former New Canaan High School catcher Curt Casali picked up his first Major League hit last Friday in his debut at-bat with the Tampa Bay Rays during a three-game road set against the Minnesota Twins. Casali finished 1-for-4 on the night, before he was left out of the lineup on Saturday. Rays manager Joe Maddon brought Casali back into the fold for a day game on Sunday, when Casali struck out for times at the plate during an 0-for-5 day.

Casali and the Rays are off today, as they travel to St. Louis for a two-game series through Wednesday. Tampa Bay returns home Friday for a critical three-game set against divisional rival, the Boston Red Sox. Casali is currently serving in place of the injured Ryan Hanigan, who was placed on the 15-day DL last Thursday.
