New Canaan midfielder Ryan O’Connell, class of 2017, has committed to Michigan men’s lacrosse following his high school graduation,  per Ty Xanders of Inside Lacrosse. The rising Ram sophomore saw little action for New Canaan High School last spring during a season that ended in a Class M state championship defeat.

However, O’Connell, who can also work faceoffs, did notch a goal for the Rams in their state semifinal romp of Joel Barlow. Weeks earlier, he also notched late-regular season assist during a 14-3 blowout of the same Falcons. O’Connell and attack Jackson Appelt were the only freshmen to earn a spot on last year’s varsity squad.
