Darien and New Canaan Flag Football registration still open



The New Canaan Flag Football League is holding open registration for the 2014 season until Tuesday for kids in second grade througn high school. There will be four divisions: 2-3 grade, 4-6 grade, 7-8 grade and high school.
The season will start with practices on Thursday, Aug. 28, and the first games are scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 6.
Additionally, the league is offering a preseason camp from Aug. 18-22 at Waveny Park from 4 to 6 p.m. The camp is for registered players to improve their conditioning and skills, while also playing in practice games. The league works hand in hand with USA Football and is run by the New Canaan recreation deptartment.

The Darien Junior Football League will hold second and third grade flag football tryouts and team selection on Saturday, September 6, at Royle School. The third grade session will begin at 9:00. The second grade session is set to begin at 9:45. Players should wear gym clothes, bring water, and arrive 15 minutes early to sign in. All registered players will be placed on teams afterward. The season begins Saturday, September 20, and runs for seven weeks, with all games played on Saturday mornings at Royle Field. Start times vary from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. First grade flag begins Saturday, September 13, at Royle School, from 4-5:30 p.m., and it runs for seven weeks. Please register online at DJFL.org.
