HARTFORD — Gov. Dannel P. Malloy has placed a “friendly” wager with Kentucky Gov. Steve Beshear on the women’s NCAA championship basketball game taking place in New Orleans Tuesday night. If UCONN wins, Kentucky has to fork over a country ham. If the Lady Cardinals somehow find a way to beat the Husky’s Mally has promised Bershear a basket of “CT grown products.”
No word on what that basket would contain.
According to the governor’s office: “We don’t think that will even come to pass…”
“… they are no match for the UConn women and Geno,” said Malloy, a written statement. “I’ll be cheering on the UConn Huskies, and soon thereafter I’ll be enjoying another delicious Kentucky ham. Our women’s team is tremendous, and the whole state is behind them for the win tomorrow night.”
Beshear said something of a similar nature about the Lady Cardinals.
Malloy has proclaimed Tuesday as “Husky Day” in the State of Connecticut and is asking residents to show their Husky pride by wearing blue and white.
The Huskies will play the Lady Cardinals on Tuesday night at 8:30 p.m.
