BRIDGEPORT –  The School Volunteer Association of Bridgeport is seeking over 600 volunteers from Bridgeport and surrounding communities to join them for Read Aloud Day 2013.

The program will send someone into every pre-kindergarten through sixth grade class in the Bridgeport Public Schools from 9 to 10 a.m., October 17.

The association provides the books for volunteers to read and then donate them to the classroom libraries. Stories to be read this year include Mark Teague’s “The Three Little Pigs And The Somewhat Bad Wolf; ” and Claudia Fridell’s “Goliath,” a true story about a fire house horse who was the hero of the great Baltimore fire of 1904.  Friddell is expected to take part in the read.

To take part, readers must register by calling the School Volunteer Office at 203-275-1120 or visit our website, www.svabridgeport.org for more information.
