Housatonic has a Manufacturing Hall of Fame

MFG_LAB_2BRIDGEPORT -‑ Housatonic Community College is creating the American Manufacturing Hall of Fame, the first of its kind to be created by a two-year college.

Established to call attention to the resurgence of manufacturing in the nation and the positive impact it can have on communities, a kick off ceremony will be held today at 9 a.m. at the college. Actor John Ratzenberger, a manufacturing advocate, will serve as inaugural chair.

The hall of fame will operate under the Housatonic Community College Foundation, the college’s fundraising arm. It is hoped the hall will generate revenue to support the college’s new Advanced Manufacturing Program and provide scholarships to students. year college.

Each year, companies from across the state and the nation that have had an impact on the field of manufacturing will be inducted into the hall.  Eventually, a museum with rotating manufacturing exhibits that will also house the hall will be created in Bridgeport.
