UConn’s dynamic duo of junior Maya Moore and senior Tina Charles were named to The Associated Press preseason All-America team Tuesday. Moore, who was the consensus national Player of the Year last season, is the seventh unanimous choice in the history of the team that was first announced in 1994-95.
Moore and Charles were joined by Stanford senior center Jayne Appel, Ohio State junior center Jantel Lavender and Virginia senior guard Monica Wright.
It is the fifth time that two players from the same team have been selected to the preseason team and the third time for UConn. Current assistant coach Shea Ralph and Svetlana Abrosimova were honored in 2000-01 and Jennifer Rizzotti and Kara Wolters were honored in 1995-96.
