Geno Auriemma entered the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame and the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2006. Rebecca Lobo will be inducted into the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame Saturday night in Knoxville, Tennessee.
Sue Bird and Diana Taurasi seem to be locks to get in five years after they retire from the game. But what about associate head coach Chris Dailey?
Dailey has been right next to Auriemma for seven national championships, 11 trips to the Final Four and 735 wins during her 25-year stay in Storrs. If you ask her, though, she has no chance to be inducted. She’s jokingly eyeing another Hall of Fame instead.
“I would need my own Hall of Fame,’’ Dailey said. “I would go into the Shoppers Hall of Fame. I can a spot a sale a mile away. I can get a discount. I can get a better price at any time. That would be mine. I would be in the inaugural class. I would be the first person ever.’’

Chris Daley is a class act. She deserves to be honored as an integral part of the UCONN team and success it has achieved over the years. Her sense of humor is an indication how she sees herself in the total context of the “game.” I can only imagine how the players she coaches revere and respect this wonderful lady, mentor and leader.
