Senior All-American Maya Moore and junior Tiffany Hayes were among 25 players named to the 2010-11 preseason “Wade Watch’’ list for the Wade Trophy Division I Player of the Year, the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) announced Wednesday. Moore has won the award in each of the past two seasons.
Joining Moore and Hayes were Danielle Adams (Texas A&M), Kachine Alexander (Iowa), Angie Bjorklund (Tennessee), Kelley Cain (Tennessee), Elena Delle Donne (Delaware), Skylar Diggins (Notre Dame), Victoria Dunlap (Kentucky), Dawn Evans (James Madison), Brittney Griner (Baylor), Amber Harris (Xavier), Shenise Johnson (Miami), Jantel Lavender (Ohio State), Nnemkadi Ogwumike (Stanford), Kayla Pedersen (Stanford), Ta’Shia Phillips (Xavier), Samantha Prahalis (Ohio State), Chastity Reed (Arkansas), Danielle Robinson (Oklahoma), Sugar Rodgers (Georgetown), Shekinna Stricklen (Tennessee), Carolyn Swords (Boston College), Jasmine Thomas (Duke) and Courtney Vandersloot (Gonzaga).
The list of candidates is comprised of the top Division I players who best embody the spirit of Lily Margaret Wade according to game and season statistics, leadership, character, effect on their team and overall playing ability. The 2011 Wade Trophy recipient will be announced at the WBCA National Convention at the Final Four in Indianapolis, Ind. in April.
