UConn senior guard Caroline Doty was looking to have some fun last week. Dressed as Lady Gaga, she went Trick or Treating on the UConn camps late Halloween night.
The event did not end as Doty hoped it would. She was issued an infraction from campus police Nov. 1 at 2:15 a.m. for creating a public disturbance in a dormitory. Police were called to the scene after an excessive noise complaint was made by residents of the dormitory.
“Halloween is for 8-year-olds,’’ UConn coach Geno Auriemma said today. “And when 23-year-olds go Trick or Treating, the decision to go Trick or Treating is dumb and invariably the stuff they’re going to do is dumber. So that’s what I think about Caroline.’’
Doty was not arrested. Alcohol was not involved.
“I think there’s a time and a place for it,’’ Doty said. “I don’t think I’ll probably go Trick or Treating unless I have a kid. You get too old for it. It wasn’t anything, really. Just some trick or treating. It wasn’t anything, really.’’
Doty was subsequently held out of UConn’s exhibition opener against Indiana University (Pa.) Nov. 2. The university said the reason was that she tweaked her left knee during shootaround earlier that day.
