McCall Makes Her Decision, Will Play For Cardinal

The decision was one of the best kept secrets of the recruiting period. Even in the age of social media, Erica McCall, a 6-foot-3 senior forward from Bakersfield, Calif., was intent on making her announcement on her terms.

The time came tonight at a party with family and friends when McCall made an oral commitment to play for Stanford, according to multiple media outlets. She chose the Cardinal over UConn and UCLA.

The loss of McCall means that Saniya Chong, a 5-9 guard from Ossining, N.Y. will be the lone member of UConn’s 2013 recruiting class. The Huskies will have just nine scholarship players on their roster next season.

The NCAA early signing period runs Wednesday through Nov. 21.

A bunch of foolish comments, the fact that UCONN was in the serious running for McCall says alot. She’s a California kid that choose Stanford, makes sense to me. Uconn’s recruiting prowess is beyond reproach, besides this team is loaded to be the prohibitive favorite the next few years. The depth of talent on this team will never be a burden for Geno, see that smirk on his face? he knows what he has here.

Key point to remember: without the Engelns, Johnsons, and Kearns of the world, next season UConn stars will be risking injury in the last 10 minutes of blowouts like today. No smart Geno.

Calm down folks. There is an abundance of talent on the roster to make it through the next couple of seasons. It’s the 2014 class that UCONN is strongly targeting and it’s possible the Huskies could hit the jackpot with that one.

Rather sad and shocking that Geno and staff go after five kids in the top fifteen and fail to land a single one. Having said that, Stanford is in the habit of warehousing talent, while UConn features talent. A kid coming to Uconn who is highly rated always gets the opportunity for abundant playing time, while Stanford is in the habit of recruiting en mass and sitting kids way down the bench.

Would have been happier at UConn.

LAME recruiting effort by Geno and CD at all positions.
What is the plan for UConn’s next true inside BIG?
Stokes still has to improve her work effort in practice.
Dolson statistically might have outplayed Tina in first 2 years.
But does anyone really believe Dolson will be POY as a senior?
    Then who plays center?
