The UConn women’s basketball team has received production from numerous players this season. That did not change tonight against Colgate.
Brianna Banks led four players in double figures with a career-high 20 points, three rebounds, five assists and four steals as the second-ranked Huskies rolled to a 101-41 win before 7,934 at the XL Center. Stefanie Dolson added 18 points, seven rebounds and three assists for UConn (6-0). Kelly Faris had a season-high 17 points, while Breanna Stewart had 12 points and eight rebounds.
Bria Hartley, who was honored during a pregame ceremony for reaching 1,000 career last season, finished with eight points.
Sophomore Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis missed the first game of her career. She suffered a concussion with 2:08 remaining in Saturday’s win over No. 14 Purdue.
STAR OF THE GAME: Kelly Faris. She has become to be an offensive threat for the Huskies, finishing 5-of-6 from the field (3-of-3 3-pointers). She also added five rebounds, five assists and three steals in 21 minutes.
KEYS TO THE WIN: Led by six points from Dolson and four from Faris, the Huskies scored the first 12 points of the game during a 21-5 run over 6:10. … Banks continues to provide the Huskies with a spark off the bench, scoring 14 points (5-of-6 FG; 3-of-3 3-pointers) in 12 minutes in the first half. … Powered by Dolson and Stewart, the Huskies outscored Colgate 50-2 in the paint. … Stewart has scored in double figures in every game this season. … The Huskies made 13 3-pointers and shot 54.6 percent from the field.
