The rollercoaster season for junior All-American Bria Hartley took another dip today against Syracuse. She again rolled her tender left ankle and finished with three points (1-of-4 FG; 1-of-3 3-pointers), three rebounds, three assists and two turnovers in 19 minutes.
Hartley spent the final 7:47 on the bench.
“I know she rolled her ankle maybe two or three times out there today so maybe that was a part of it,’’ UConn coach Geno Auriemma said. “But I don’t know what to expect anymore so I just kind of chalk it up as just a bad day. Just a bad day.’’
Hartley was hoping to build off of a 16-point performance against No. 15 Louisville Tuesday. Now she will look to rebound Monday when the Huskies host No. 4 Duke at Gampel Pavilion.
Hartley has failed to reach double figures in scoring in four of the last six games, scoring three or less points three times during this stretch.
“Bria’s a key player of ours,’’ sophomore Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis said. “She’s our only All-American right now. We’ve just got to get her back in the flow of things. She’s got to feel more comfortable and be confident out there.’’
