Sophomore guard Brianna Banks was forced to leave today’s game against St. John’s with 10:02 left in the first half with what is being labeled a right knee sprain. She was injured during a collision on an offensive foul in the lane.
Following a 71-65 win over the Red Storm, UConn coach Geno Auriemma did not have any further information on Banks’ condition.
“I thought it was her hip when she first slammed into that kid,’’ Auriemma said. “And then (team athletic trainer) Rosemary (Ragle) and (team doctor Tom Trojian) told me that she kind of landed on her knee wrong and then somebody hit it at the same time. So I probably won’t know anything until either later on tonight or first thing tomorrow morning.’’
With three 3-pointers by Kelly Faris today, the Huskies now have four players with 100 career 3-pointers on the same team for the first time – Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis (155), Bria Hartley (153), Caroline Doty (133) and Faris (101).
