STOPPING SIMS: Griner is the most talked-about player for the Lady Bears. But Sims might be their most important player. She runs the offense and is a strong defensive player as well. The Huskies need to control her productivity.

FACING NO. 1: The Huskies are facing the nation’s No. 1 team for the 11th time in team history. They are 5-5 overall, including a win at Stanford Dec. 29.

PAINT WORK: Baylor has outscored the opposition by an average of 49.0-17.8 in the paint this season. UConn has outscored the opposition 37.3-16.2. However, the Huskies lead the nation in scoring at 83.0. Baylor is second at 81.7.

  1. Good Grief says:

It is crazy that many Husky fans do not get the significance of UConn losing the last 5 games decided by 5 points. They keep pointing to the blowout wins over the overmatched 99% of teams in WCBB.

UConn recruits to win the Big East regular season, the Big East Tournament, and the NCAA Championship. Other than Notre Dame, no one else in the Big East has recruited to reach the Final Four, in the last several years. Rutgers has lost 10 straight to UConn.

Did you ever watch the bums that Mike Tyson used to knock out in the first 30 seconds of fights? His opponents were professional boxers. Yet they stood zero chance of winning against him. They did not have the talent and they did not have the great trainers that Tyson had.

That is how WCBB has been forever. Less than 1% haves and 99% don’t haves.
