With four 3-pointers tonight against DePaul, sophomore Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis has set a UConn two-season record with 193. Wendy Davis made a combined 192 in 1990-91 and 1991-92.
“It’s cool,’’ Mosqueda-Lewis said. “It’s a tribute to my team and to the plays Coach (Geno Auriemma) runs. I can’t get open without my teammates, and I probably wouldn’t even be able to get open without the coaches telling me, `This is how you need to come off a screen. You need to screen for other people to get yourself open. You need to keep moving. So it’s really cool.’’
Mosqueda-Lewis has now made 100 3-pointers this season. Davis is the only other player in team history to reach the century mark in a single season, making a team record 107 in 1991-92.
“I’m a 3-point shooter,’’ Mosqueda-Lewis said. “So whenever I’m open I’m going to shoot the ball.’’
