Saturday’s NCAA Regional Semifinals In Bridgeport Sold-Out

Saturday’s regional semifinal match-ups between second-seeded Kentucky and sixth-seeded Delaware (noon) and top-seeded UConn and fourth-seeded Maryland (2:30 p.m.) are sold out at the 9,000-seat Webster Bank Arena in Bridgeport, according a high-ranking arena official.

UConn drew 4,563 against Prairie View A&M in the first round and 4,372 in the second round against Kansas State at the venue last year. In 2008, a crowd of 6,556 was on hand for a win over Cornell in the first round and 6,834 for a win over Texas in the second round.

However, the Huskies drew consecutive sellout crowds of 9,091 for the regional semifinals against Georgia and the regional final against Duke in 2006. A sellout of 9,091 was also on hand for the first and second rounds in 2004.

UConn is a combined 7-1 in Bridgeport.

We will be in the first row Saturday and Monday. Can’t wait! Love to see Elena Delle Donne vs Kelly Faris on Monday night. Understand why Elena left UCONN for Delaware but the match-up would be fun to watch. Go UCONN Ladies!
