UConn freshmen Moriah Jefferson, Breanna Stewart and Morgan Tuck are among 34 players that have accepted invitations to participate in the USA Basketball U-19 World Championship Team trials, USA Basketball announced today. Invitations were issued by the USA Basketball Junior National Team Committee.
UConn Class of 2014 target A’ja Wilson, a 6-foot-4 wing from Hopkins, S.C., has also been selected.
Trials to select the 12-member USA team will be held at the U.S. Olympic Training Center (USOTC) in Colorado Springs, Colo. May 16-19. The team will then regroup for training July 1 at the USOTC prior to competing in the FIBA U-19 World Championship in Lithuania.
The U.S. is looking to win its fifth straight gold medal at the U-19 World Championship, which will be held July 18-28.
