Samuelson scores 20 as U.S. Rolls Over Costa Rica At U-16s

UConn Class of 2015 target Katie Lou Samuelson had 20 points and eight rebounds in 20 minutes (8-of-12 FG; 4-of-6 3-pointers) to lead the U.S. to a 106-19 rout of Costa Rica Friday at the FIBA Americas U-16 Championship in Cancun, Mexico.

The U.S., which led 35-4 after the first quarter, 60-6 at halftime and 81-8 after the third quarter, has automatically qualified for the 2014 FIBA U-17 World Championship.

Fellow UConn 2015 targets Asia Durr finished with 12 points, two rebounds, two assists and three steals; Kalani Brown added 12 points and six rebounds; and DeJanae Boykin added 10 points, six rebounds, three assists, three blocks and two steals.

The U.S. (3-0) will meet Mexico (2-1) in the semifinals tonight at 7.
