Samuelson Scores 16 As U.S. Reaches Gold Medal Game At U-16s

UConn Class of 2015 target Katie Lou Samuelson had 16 points and three steals in 25 minutes to lead the U.S. to a 101-29 victory over Mexico Saturday in the semifinals of the FIBA Americas U-16 Championship in Cancun, Mexico.

The U.S. shot 60.6 percent from the field (40-of-66 FG) and scored 27 points off of 33 turnovers by Mexico.

Fellow UConn 2015 targets Kalani Brown added 13 points, eight rebounds and three blocks; Asia Durr finished with 11 points, three rebounds, two assists and four steals; and DeJanae Boykin added nine points (4-of-4 FG), six rebounds, and three steals.

The U.S. (4-0) will meet Canada (4-0) in the gold medal game tonight at 6:30. It will be a rematch of the 2009 gold medal game, a 103-52 victory by the U.S.
