UConn was honored by President Barack Obama at the White House Wednesday for winning their NCAA record-tying eighth national championship in April. The ceremony was memorable for the Huskies. It was also memorable for the playful, good-natured actions of senior All-American Stefanie Dolson and junior Kiah Stokes.
Near the end of the event in the East Room, Dolson and Stokes flashed “rabbit ears’’ behind Obama’s head with their fingers as he posed with the Huskies for a group picture. This fun moment has drawn national attention as UConn has been contacted today by several national news syndicates, including CNN, the Today Show, Inside Edition, Yahoo! and Scripps.
Here is how it went down: As cameras were flashing Obama quipped to the players behind him on the stage, “Alright, no rabbit ears now.’’ Everyone laughed and after a moment he exclaimed, “OK, you can go ahead (with the rabbit ears).’’ Dolson and Stokes, both fun-loving by nature, simply could not resist capitalizing on this rare opportunity.
