Nurse, Canada Earn Silver At FIBA Americas World Championship

UConn Class of 2014 target Kia Nurse had nine points, two rebounds and three assists in 27 minutes Saturday in the gold-medal game at the FIBA Americas World Championship for Women in Xalapa, Mexico. However, Canada suffered a 79-71 loss to Cuba.

Nurse was third on the team in scoring (10.0), assists (2.5) and minutes played (24.0) and also averaged 2.0 rebounds over six games in the tournament. According to Swish Appeal, UConn, Indiana, Kentucky, Penn State and Tennessee make up her short list.

Former Kolbe Cathedral star Ashley Prim averaged 7.7 points, 1.7 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.5 steals in 22.7 minutes in six games for Puerto Rico. She had 11 points (7-of-8 FTs) in 27 minutes in a 66-56 loss to Brazil in the bronze-medal game.
