UConn senior All-American Bria Hartley is again being hampered by an injured left ankle. It is the same ankle she sprained last year and subsequently missed six weeks of action, including the first two games of the regular season.
Hartley was to compete at the U.S. Women’s National Team mini-camp today through Sunday at UNLV’s Cox Pavilion practice gym. The decision to instead keep her on campus at UConn was a precautionary measure.
“(UConn coach) Geno (Auriemma) said it was a minor ankle tweak and it was better for her to rehab there than to come (to camp) and just stand around,’’ a source said.
The defending national champion Huskies will not hold their first official practice until Oct. 19.
