Mosqueda-Lewis Out Indefinitely With Nerve Contusion Of Elbow

UConn junior All-American Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis is out indefinitely after suffering a nerve contusion of the right elbow in Monday’s 76-57 victory over No. 3 Stanford at Gampel Pavilion, the team announced today. An MRI administered Tuesday revealed the damage and she will be re-evaluated next week.

Mosqueda-Lewis, who had nine points and two rebounds in 22 minutes against the Cardinal, came crashing down to the court after elevating for a defensive rebound. With Stanford All-American Chiney Ogwumike having already fallen in front of her, she landed first on her right palm and then on her right elbow with 18:08 remaining in the second half.

Ogwumike was called for a foul on the play.

Mosqueda-Lewis missed one game last season against Colgate Nov. 28 due to a concussion. That had been the only game that she had missed in her career to this point.

The top-ranked Huskies will travel to No. 8 Maryland Friday and No. 13 Penn State Sunday.
