Kiah Stokes had a career-high 19 points, eight rebounds and four blocks to lead No. 1 UConn to an 88-39 victory over St. Bonaventure Sunday before 8,242 in the Hall of Fame Challenge at XL Center. Stokes was 9-of-11 shooting from the field.
The Huskies will conclude the tournament Dec. 1 when they face Ohio State at the Mass Mutual Center in Springfield, Mass.
Stefanie Dolson finished with 16 points, a season-high 15 rebounds, four assists and four blocks for UConn (8-0). Moriah Jefferson had 14 points, six rebounds, a season-high seven assists and five steals, while Breanna Stewart had 11 points, six rebounds, three assists and two blocks.
Bria Hartley added nine points, nine assists and two steals.
Gabrielle Richmond led St. Bonaventure (6-2) with nine points.
STAR OF THE GAME: Stefanie Dolson. She had 16 points, 15 rebounds, four assists and four blocks in 30 minutes in producing another strong all-around game.
KEYS TO THE WIN: Trailing 2-0, the Huskies scored 31 straight points. St. Bonaventure missed 13 straight shots and went scoreless for 10:12. … The Huskies committed only two turnovers in the first half, including none in a span of 13:33. They committed just five turnovers in the game. … Six players had at least five points in the first half.
WORTH NOTING: Former UConn guard Caroline Doty and signed recruit Sadie Edwards were in attendance. … Dolson recorded her fourth double-double of the season and has reached double figures in rebounds in five of the last six games … Stokes has scored in double figures in four straight games for the first time in her career. … The Huskies have won 52 straight games – 17 straight championships – during in-season tournaments dating back to a 57-37 loss to Vanderbilt in the first round of the Hilton Head Shootout Dec. 29, 1992. … The Huskies have won 55 straight games in November dating back to a 71-65 loss to North Carolina Nov. 21, 2004. … The Huskies improved to 304-14 as the nation’s No. 1 team.
