There has been no official word from UConn regarding the status of All-American Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis for Tuesday’s No. 1 vs. No. 2 showdown at Duke in the Jimmy V Classic. She has missed the last eight games with a nerve contusion of her right elbow, and only returned to practice Dec. 8.
Duke coach Joanne P. McCallie said today that she is preparing as if Mosqueda-Lewis will play in the game.
“Obviously, she’s a great player, a super player,’’ McCallie said. “And she’ll be back stronger than ever. We just assume she’s back stronger than ever for our game. You prepare, yes … You prepare for the best five that’ll be put out there.’’
Mosqueda-Lewis, who has not played since Nov. 11 against Stanford, had 21 points (4-of-8 3-pointers) and six rebounds in 35 minutes in UConn’s 79-49 win over Duke last season.
